What exactly is the expense? Losing in a videogame? Does it really hurt your deepest feelings? You entered with the risk of losing. Insults lead to a ban, ranking is no insult, it's either humiliation (and you're a sorry idiot if you get affected by it) or for the laugh, especially if you know each other.

Now while you like to talk about extremes, let me tell about the other extreme where you reside: Carebears.

Carebears like to be hugged every meter, moment, second, achievement even when combatting other players, they need appreciation in whatever they do and they demand it. They are the exact kind that doesn't belong into PvP (no, I'm no elite PvPer) because they'd be the first ones to beg for ingame blue helmets and helicopter escorts so that they never lose in any given situation.

Let me get this straight,

Anet has NEVER stated that ranking over corpses can possibly lead to a ban?

so that story about a guild getting booted due to inappropriate conduct (ranking) is what....myth?

in any case anet has clearly given out the message that its fine to do so now. so its all really a moot point.

You ever watch WWF/RAW Wrestling? I don't think there's another SPORT where you'll see so much taunting before and after a match. Guys and gals getting stomped on even after they've lost. So, society itself has promoted this way of sportsmanship. Yes, I know that wrestling is theatrical, but, you climb into the ring with one of them and tell me how theatrical of an experience you had. Look at the thousands of people (who take their children) to watch this stuff and we all know children are influenced by what they see when they are young. So, this emote is really like a WWF/RAW thing it's just theatrical nothing serious just in yer face stuff for entertainment.

PvP players have always thought of corpse ranking as just playful taunting. PvE players are the only ones who seem to have an issue with it. Look at this thread, and that becomes fairly evident.

So why do PvE players care more about this amusing part of PvP gameplay more than PvP players do? They lose more often than they win, and/or sour grapes over not being able to get the emote themselves?

Can you give me another sensible reason?

I like Anet, as a developer, and anyone who has had much experience with other MMO developers would probably feel the same way. I think they make a lot of good decisions, but often fail to justify them or fully explain their goals or intentions. For some reason I feel compelled to do that for them.

Personally I consider all taunting that is not done in jest between good friends rude. I also hold rude persons in as high a regard as I would somebody who's proud that he was never toilet trained. It's ok as long as they keep off my carpet because I like to keep it clean.

Well, time to do less PvP I guess.

You can do that with the Hero title aswell. Yes, people actually sell fame.

Although I agree with this. If PvE'ers wanted equality because PvP'ers got /Rank, why not remove /Rank?
That will get rid of that form of gloating, but this one just doubled it.

And /Rank was only there because title's didn't used to exist.

So they use their gold to buy keys from the elite PvPers who are the only ones skilled enough to earn them? At 125,000 gold for the first rank (assuming 2.5k per key), and 50,000 plat for the max rank... You're actually worried that tonnes of players are going to throw down 50,000,000 gold to max this title and Zrank someone in HA?

Well, fyi, players with that kind of cash aren't that common... maybe you know a player with that kind of dosh, but I don't. It would take 50 storage vaults just to hold that much gold. So, except for the few that managed to slip through the armbrace dupping scandal, I don't expect many to be "buying" this rank with gold.

I've just realise that this is a "global" emote for everyone who is able to gain Balthazar points.

I think this is it. its just been wrongly introduced. So chill everyone, didn't we ask for emote for the other PvP titles?

Regarding the rude part:

althought the way Arena Net says may sound like its rude, I think we as the player should use it in a not rude manner.

In my opinion, to be fair, Balthazar Points gain from doing HA should be excluded for gaining this emote BECAUSE they have already used said Balthazar points in getting the existing emote.

didn't notice the buyable part, erm WTH, MAKE THE KEY NON-TRANSFERABLE! i am not gonna have a title that someone else can buy. sheesh.

I hope this stuff is just so bad cause they are way to busy making GW2 uber good...
Then why not make the /rank something more appropriate to PvE titles? The primary source for this title is a PvP mechanic... I honestly think this was geared towards the PvP player.

No. I don't feel spited that I don't have the flashy emote - I want it for personal accomplishement (nothing big, but better than what I have ATM ). I feel spited because to your average guy, it means that because he has this emote (and sometimes only because he's got the emote) he's automatically better than I am.

Let's see what goes through your average Johnny-boy's head:
I'm leet! I killed him! And this emote proves that I'm even BETTER than him IN GENERAL. I'm a much, much better player than the guy I just killed (or rather, sometimes, that my team killed... but I'm not gonna tell that). I'm so hot.

Then you team up with Johnny, who overextends then yells at the monk for not healing him, then ragequits saying everyone else in this team but him sucks.

THAT's my experience with the average PvP player - the guy who brags about being super-duper-godly by showing his rank as I die in front of him, then I team up with him and you realize he can't even play decently in the same or a different context.

And people wonder why PvPers are generally regarded as arrogant to a PvEer's eyes.

Anyways, that's pretty much why I'm so-so about the emotes, because your average player will judge you on it and not about your actual skills (dude, it's flashy! it's better!!!111!). And yes, I'm somewhat worried about this new one... especially with what ANet's been promoting.

It's easy enough to get rank 1 at any rate. I don't PVP, all I do is guess on the Xunlai House once a month and bingo, I get at least 100 RPs a month. Got 125 yesterday as it goes, blew them on the chest and got halfway to rank 1 already.

So yes they are "buyable" but unless you're pining for a high rank it's easy to get the lower ones without spending anything or PVPing.

I can't say as I'm fussed with this at all. To me it's just another pointless title that I won't max out, with or without the emote. I could have made a killing on the keys, but I like to gamble with them, y'know. For fun...

Surena, why should people be forced to take this from a buyable title then?
Please take the rest of the communities opinions at hand aswell, if they get pissed off, and the majority of them do, then ANet have obviously made a wrong decision.

Not to mention ANOTHER buyable / farmable emote.

I have no idea what all this has to do with anything I said. I wasn't talking about anything that happens in this particular game. I actually couldn't care less about what happens between random players in this silly little game, because I won't be one of them. All I said was a very general, totally non-GW related: "Actually, yes, you need to be an asshole to have fun at someone else's expense."

Humiliation is very bad, Surena. I do not think it should be in anyone's power to do that to another person, nor should anyone want to do that to anohter person. people play game to have fun not get humiliated.

I am thinking you have maybe used the wrong word.

Are the Charr rude for Tigering your lifeless corpse? Has anyone reported them?!

In Mortal Kombat, no one cried over an oponent using a 'finishing move' once your life bar dropped to zero.

Emoting is not the problem, it's more indivduals' attitudes and the dialog that follows it, typically induced by the anonymity of the internet.

On the bright side you get a nice animal or spear falling on your head, and not some teabagging joker.

Nothing is wrong with emoting over someone's body. Don't like it, then don't lose.
They even made fun of that by making the Charr [Gloat].

I never heard of anyone getting banned for using an emote. Probably some stupid chat lines where the reason, and the culprit thought it was the emote.

I suppose the could make the title non-buyable by customizing Zaishen keys. Just like PvP armor and weapons.
